Mr and Mrs L. Kent left yesterday morning on a visit to Auckland, Mr and Mrs J. Tennent have left by air on a visit to Wellington. Sister J. Sanson, who has resigned from the staff of the Greymouth Hospital, left yesterday morning for Dunedin. Hon J O'Brien, Minister of Transnort and Marine, will arrive to-mor-row on a few days visit to Greymouth. The funeral of the late Mrs Mary Manderson took place at Kaioio Cemetery yesterday afternoom and was largely attended. Rev. W. S. Brettell conducted the services. S'ster K Sims, who has resigned from the staff of the Greymouth Hospital in view of her aporoaching marriage, left yesterday morning tor Wellington. Prior to her departuie she was farewelled by the nursing staff and was presented with a firescreen.
Messrs F. Hetherington and R. Bowman, who will leave shortly for Australia, were farewelled by members of the Runanga' Bowling Club at a social evening, and were each presented with a fountain pen, the presentation being made by the President, Mr T. Gallon.

Leave of abscence from Public Service has been granted Dr. W. B. Sutch (advisory economist to the Ministry of Supply), who has been lent to the Far Eastern Division of the U.N.N.R.A. organization, with headquarters in Australia. Dr. Sutch left Auckland for Sydney yesterday. Pie will be Director of Supply and Requirements for the South West Pacific area. This appointment had temporarily been held by Dr. W. A. Chudson, who was recently in New Zealand, on his way back to the United States. Dr. Sutch will be concerned with the procurement of supplies for U.N.N.R.A. in Europe, the East or elsewhere, so long as they are available in the area which includes Burma, the Netherlands East Indies, Indo China, Maylaya, the Philippines, and the Pacific Islands generally, as well as Australia and New Zealand. Co-ordination and assessment of relief requirements in the same area will also be his responsibility. Dr. Sutch is the workers’ representative on the Railway Tribunal, it is expected his appointment with U.N.N.R.A. will involve his resignation from the tribunal.
