Mr. K. McLellan, of Wellington, is visiting Greymouth.

Mr T. Tiileyshort, who has been visiting relatives on the West Coast, returns to Christchurch this morning.

Mr. A. B. Wayne, who has been on a visit to the West Coast leaves to-day on return to Dannevirke.

iMr. J. Samson who has been visiting the West Coast leaves to-day on return to Waimate.

Stoker Jack Tomlinson, R.N.Z.N., and Mrs. Tomlinson returned to Christchurch by last evening’s railcar.

■■ Mr, William Harris, the well known entomologist, who formerly lived in Greymouth, is visiting the West Coast.

Mr. and Mrs. R. Poultney,. Invercargill, are spending a holiday at Runanga, as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith, Duncan Street.

Mrs. J. Rooney, Blaketown, has been appointed caretaker of the Blaketown School replacing Mr. Bradford who has resigned. ,

Mr. F. N. Whitmore, Rotomanu, who is a patient in the Greymouth Hospital, is making satisfactory progress.

Sub-Lieut. D. A. Wallace, R.N.Z.N. V.R., who was recently promoted to his present rank oversea’s, is spending furlough in Greymouth.

Mr H. Hutchinson leaves to-day for Wellington, where he will represent the Westland branch of the New Zealand Surveyors Institute at the annual conference.

Mr. Humphrey Spencer, Wellington, and formerly of Greymouth, will leave shortly for SoutT Africa where he will reside. He win be accompanied by Mrs. Spencer.

Mrs. G. Morrish, Preston Road, has received a' cable from her son, L/Cpl. William Morrish, that he is safe in Cairo. L/C'pl. Morrish has been on the missing list since he escaped from an Italian prison camp when Italy capitulated.

Yesterday afternoon at Palmerston North His Excellency, the GovernorGeneral (S'ir Cyril Newall), Avho was on his way to Auckland for an official visit, presented the Air Force Cross to Squadron-Leader Ernest William Barnett, R.N.Z.A.F.—P.A.

Mr. Roy Bowman, who has been a prominent member of the Runanga Debating Club, during the past five years, and who intends residing in Australia, was met by members prior to his departure, and was made a suitable presentation by the President, Mr. J. Richards.
