[Our Own Correspondent] The Hon. C. F. and Mrs Skinner were visitors to the township on Wednesday, and were entertained at the Empire Hotel by the local branch ol the Labour Party, and afterwards by Lhe R.S.A., when the Minister received several deputations. Mr R. E. Coury (secretary), and Miss J. Tully (stenographer 1 "accompanied the Minister. Mrs J. H. Beard and family have left for Christchurch, where they will in future reside. Messrs H. Williams, J. W. Carr, .J. E. O’Flaherty and W. D. Brown leave on Tuesday for an N.Z.E.F. mobilisation camp. L.A.C. Ralph Beard, R.N.Z.A.F., who has been spending leave with his mother, Mrs J. H. Beard, has returned to Christchurch. Mr Jock Craig, of Greymouth, was a visitor last week-end, renewing old acquaintances. Messrs Les. Stephens and Doug. Tate, of Greymouth, spent last weekend here as the guests of Mrs A. Stephens. , n _ Misses R. Willis, D. Willis and M. Pickering, of Greymouth, who have been visiting Mr ana Mrs J. Willis, have returned. At the Miners’ Hall last Saturday evening a public farewell was tendered Mr and Mrs Robert Taylor, who leave to-day to reside in Auckland, after being residents for many years. Mr Tom Sullivan, on' behalf of the public, presented Mr and Mrs Taylor with an envelope as a ■ token of the esteem and good wishes of the community. Mr Gordon Ward, on behalf of the Waiuta Labour Party, endorsed Mr Sullivan’s remarks, and Messrs R. Davis (sports bodies), and T. R. Hogg (Domain Board) also spoke. Mrs G. Ward presented Mrs Taylor with a beautiful bouquet. Mr Taylor briefly replied and expressed his sorrow at leaving such a host of good friends, but said he was leaving for health reasons. Music for dancing was supplied by Mesdames S'. Ramsden and R. Robertson, and Mr Doug. Tate. A dainty supper was served by the ladies, and the evening concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
