IRISH CONCERT

CROWDED AUDIENCE The annual St'. Patrick’s concert presented by the Convent and Marist Brothers’ Schools of Greymouth, who this year had as their guest artist, Mr Dan Foley, the well known Irish tenor,as well as local artists, was staged at the Town Hall last evening to a capacity audience The programme was excellent, the high standard attained by each and every artist being warmly acclaimed by the audience Mr. Foley’s reappearance in Greymouth was extremely popular, he having long been remembered here as a first class singer of Irish melodies. He proved last evening that he retains his beautiful voice, and the applause give him was indicative of the appreciation in which he is held. The other assisting artists did splendidly the vocal numbers of Mesdames W. Connor, and M. Kelly, Misses B. Patterson, G. Saunders, Messrs. J. Duffy, and T. Hatch being very pleasingly rendered. Miss V. McDonnell gave an admirable recitation, while the Convent and Marist School choirs exceled themselves. The Convent Orchestra along with Mr. Ford’s Orchestra made valuable contributions. The Marist Shool gymnastics won rounds of applause, and the dancing pupils of Misses Trott and Sinnott, as well as the Cobden dancing Colleens, lent further variety to the programme. Before' the final act, Very Rev. Father J. Long conveyed the greetings of Bishop Lyons.

Connor; “Along The Ennis Road,” “The Sligo .Maid’s Lament,” “After the Limerick Races” Convent Orchestra; Song, t'The Dancing Colleen.” Cobden Colleens; Vocal Solos, “Molly Bawn,” “The Cruiskeen Lawn,” Mr. Tom Hatch; Gymnastics, Marst Brothers’ High School Bovs; Popular Irish Melodies, Mr. W. Ford’s Orchestra: “Celtic Twilight,” and “Sweet is Tipperary in the Soring,” St. Mary’s School Choir;. Vocal Solos, “Kathleen Mayoureen.” and “The West’s Awake,’ Mr. James Duffy; Recitation, _Tb e Old Mass Shandrydan.” Miss V.
