NOT TO BE EXPORTED TO ALLIES (Rec. 11.0) WASHINGTON, Fob. 20 The Assistant Secretary of State, Mr Grew, referring to Senator Bridge’s query, at a press conference, said the Italian armistice terms did not include any provision for the exportation of two million Italian labourers to the Allies tor future settlement. Furthermore the original armistice terms did not now apply m view of the fact that Italy' is a cobelligerent. A GRAVE FINANCIAL POSITION. (Rec. 11.10). LONDON, February 20. The Observer .states: Mr Eden and Judge Rosenmann, who is Mr Roosevelt’s new adviser on European affairs, are in Italy, and are considering Italy’s grave financial position, and also’what adjustment of the Armistice terms may be desirable in the light of: (1) The duration and slow destructive process of the war m Italv; (2) The increasing assistance with the war that is now being given by the Italians, especially partisans. ITALY’S PAPERS SUSPENDED. (Rec. 11.10). ROME, February 20. The Italian National Press Commission has ordered six of Rome’s 19 daily newspapers to suspend publication until March 31. This is owing to a shortage of newsprint. Several of the- weeklies have also had to suspend publication.
