RAID ON RANGOON
COLOMBO, February 13. On Sunday Rangoon was heavily raided. The whole area was left in flames and belching smoke, which rose to 11,000 feet, and was visible fifty miles away. The » re a attacked was near Victoria Lake, north of the city. Nearly 700 tons—the biggest bomb load dropped on any Burma oojective —was unloaded by Supertortresses and R.A.F. Liberators. T , bombs blanketed most of the petrol, and ammunition dump area, covering 350 acres. R.A.F. Tunderbolts, and American lightnings provided an escort. Sagaing was also tae traget for the Eastern Air Command Superfortresses on Sunday. Army observers describe is as a heavy blow against the Japanese Mandalav area. Smoke was seen to rise 11,000 fee. after the raid.
