[Our Own Correspondent]. HOKITIKA, February 7. Dr. Nixon ha's been appointed Medical Officer for South Westland district, extending from Mt. Bonar, below Ross, down to Jackson Bay, and will shortly, take >up residence al Wataroa.’ He will be in the employ of the Health Department. New parts for her engines are expected from overseas next month, and the vessel will probably; go for annual overhaul for the parts to be installed. Mr Hunt has signed on the vessel as cook. A bye-law making obligatory the numbering of houses has come into force in Hokitika, and residents are now complying with it in accordance with directions.
