WAIUTA NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent]. WAIUTA, November 28. The death took place suddenly at Waiuta on Saturday morning of Mr Ernest James Fitzgerald. Aged . 64 years, he was a well-known and highly respected resident of the township . After driving his car from his his residence to Hempseed’S Store, he was overtaken by; a heart seizure, and expired almost immediately. Medical aid was obtained, but Dr. K. R. Brok-ens-hire could only pronounce life extinct. The late Mr Fitzgerald was lor many years captain of the Waiuta Cricket Club, and his genial personality will be sorely, missed this season He was a returned soldier ot the last war. He is survived by one s’ster Mrs F. Grogan (Greymouth), and two brothers, Michael (Franz Josef), and John (Ikamatua). Ine funeral, which took place on Monday at Ahaura, and was largely attended, left St. Patrick’s Church, Ikamatua, where a guard of honour of members of Waiuta and Ikamatua R.S.A. was present. The services at the Church and graveside were conducted by, Rev. Father D. Nolan (Reefton). The pallbearers were Messrs Leo and John Fitzgerald, and Maurice Flynn (Ikamatua), and F. Grogan (Greymouth). Mrs Milner (Auckland), who has been on a visit to the township as a guest of Mr Geo. White, has returned. Mr and Mrs J’. C. Rodden and family have left for Greymouth, where they will in future reside. Mrs E. P. Connors paid a visit to Grevmouth on Friday. Messrs Alf Collis and Les Stephens, of Reefton, visited the township on Sunday. , Mr Don McVicar is on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mrs Cox and family left last Thursday on return to Timaru, after spending an extended holiday with Mr and Mrs E. Woolhouse, of Blackwater. Mrs G. Ward was a week-end visitor’ to Grey mouth. Mr Mick Barry was a visitor to Christchurch to witness the N.Z. Cup on Saturday.
