General regret was felt at the death of Miss Julia Willis, who was well known in this district, inhere she received part of her education, and to her sisters and brothers the sympathy of the residents is expressed. At a meeting of the local Swimming Baths Committee on Friday night last, a' large number of the residents attended. The balance-sheet, presented by Mr. W. Levett, was considered very satisfactory. The resignation of Mr. T. Kelly as secretary on account of leaving the district was received. Mr. H. Osmers was elected Secretary, and Mr. W. Levett Chairman.
The end of the whitebait season is just about at hand. In the past fortnight fairly good catches have been made. The weather for the past few weeks, has been anything but pleasant, rain continuing day after day, and at periods it has been very cold, with snow down very low on the hillsides.
