30-HOUR WEEK
Wanted After War (Rec. 8.45) NEW YORK, Nov. 28 The American Federation of Labour at New Orleans passed a resolulion calling on the next session oi Congress to pass legislation providing for a thirty-hour week after the war. The President, William Green, re-affirmed the Federation’s decision not to send delegates to the World Labour Conference in London, despite an appeal by Mr. Arthur Horner, President of the South Wales Miners' Federation, British fraternal delegate. Without mentioning Russia, Mr. Green raid: We feel that we are fighting this war to end totalitarianism and human slavery throughout the world. For that reason the American Federation of Labour is not willing to slipport a policy that would in effect continue human slavery when the war is won. A world conference ought to be called by a world agency such as the International Federation of Trade Unions.
