ALLIED ADVANCES CONTINUE.
(Rec. 11.22. L • COLOMBO, Nov. 14. Army troops, operating on the Chindwin front, have entered the village of N-anbon, twelve miles east of the river and south-east of Sittaung. Our patrols are reported to have ■clashed with the enemy a mile further east. East African forces have advanced to within seven miles of Kalewa at one point. In Northern Burma, Chinese troops in Bhamo made slight advances and captured a Japanese strongpoint, at the southern end of the .airstrip. Troops of the British 36th. Division made slight gains in the railway corridor towards Pinwe. (Rec. 12.50). LONDON, Nov. z 6. A Burma communique reports;. Chinese took four more strongpoints in Bhamo on Friday. One Allied aircraft is missing from widespread operations in the Chindwin region, Arakan front and Central Burma. A correspondent says accurate and. effective dive-bombing by American aircraft preceded the capture of Japanese strongpoints in Bhamo. Waves of ’planes dived over defences, dropping bombs about a hundred yards from Chinese forces. Immediately after the air attack the Chinese moved in.
