Monday’s Allied communique from Italy states: Polish forces of the Eighth Army have driven off further enemy counter attacks on tht Converselle and have improved their positions. Elsewhere activity was confined to patrols. GERMANS RETAKE MONTE FORTINO (Rec. 1.10) LONDON. Nov. 20. The Exchange Telegraph Agency’s correspondent in Italy says: German forces in Italy counter-attacked heavily south of Faenza on Sunday, Germans, counter-attacking at Converselie, six miles south of Faenza, were twice repulsed, ' but succeeded in recapturing Monte Fortino, west of Forli. Monte Fortino lias been in Allied possession three days. German shelling increased north-west of Forli. Allied patrols are active south of Ravenna. One patrol crossed the Ronco River and contacted and caused casualties to the enemy holding the north bank of the Scololama Canal, about four miles south-west of Ravenna. The Fifth Army maintained strong pressure with aggressive patrolling. They repulsed several enemy attacks .and slightly improved their positions. LONDON, Nov 19 The Associated Press Rome correspondent reports: The Eighth Army has encountered a new German delaying line running along the Montone Rive, south-west of Ravenna, across th e highway between Forli and Faenza. The line runs into the hills where the Poles are engaged m heavy fighting. Eighth Army forces have attacked across the Montone River, south-west of Santome, says the Exchange Telegraph Agency’s Rome correspondent. They in heavy fighting cleared the enemy from defending buildings. Fighting continues along the highway to Faenza. Our patrols are probing an enemy position just oft the highway, but the main positions are unchanged. The enemy, with the support of self-propelled guns and artillery, counter-attacked in the area of Golfara, which has been captured. Fleavy fighting is going on south of Ravenna. Fifth Army patrols deeply probed enemy positions and there were several patrol clashes.
