M.V. “PORT WAIKATO”

BEING TOWED TO WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, Nov. 20. The motor ship “Port Waikato” is expected to arrive at Wellington before noon to-morrow in tow of the Wellington Harbour Board’s tug Tola, after haying had an engine break-down while on a voyage. On Sunday morning the “Port radioed that she had cieveloped trouble with her crank shaft, and that her engines were consequently disabled, and she asked that a tug be sent to tow her into port. The Toi.a left Wellington a few hours later, and she located the “Fort Waikato” this morning, with the Naoal, an armed trawler, standing by. She immediately took the vessel in tow, and is expected to arrive in Wellington late to-morrow morning. The “Port Waikato” is a steel singlescrew motor ship of 608 tons gross. She was built in 1929 by Henry Robb, Ltd., of Leith, for Captain A; F. Witchlen. •
