IDur Own Correspondent.] Mrs J. Bright who is an inmate of the Greymouth Hospital, is making satisfactory progress. Mrs Maher, sent., and Mrs Jeffreys who have been visiting here, as the guests of Mr and Mrs W. Maher, have returned to Cobden. Mrs A. Stephens is spending a holiday in Greymouth. Mr and Mrs Gordon Ward, and Mr and Mrs Fred Kittenberg are visiting Christchurch. Mr and Mrs W. Gidley return from a honeymoon tour on Saturday. Mr and Mrs H. E. Le Compe were visitors to Greymouth during last week. Stokers Jeff and Jack Tomlinson and S. Kennedy, who have been serving on H.M.N.Z. “Gambia” w’ll be visiting Waiut.a during the weekend on leave. Mr Joe Lines who has been seriously ill for the past few weeks, is now making a good recovery. Mr and Mrs K. H. .Kent have left for Christchurch where they will in future reside. Mr Kent who has been electrical engineer to the ‘Blackwater Mines Ltd. for the past eleven years, has accepted a similar position with the Marathon 'Rubber Coy., Christchurch. Prior to his departure Mr Kent was suitably entertained by the staff, being the recipient of cheques, both from the directors of the company and the staff, both presentations being made by Mr M. J. Humphries, superintendent. The departing guest was also honoured at a function by the surface members and the powerhouse staffs. The latter function was held at the residence, of Don Ferguson, where an enjoyable evening was s n ent. The many friends of Mr and Mrs Kent, wish them success and prosperity in their new surroundings. Mr R. White, junr., is visiting Christchurch.

The of the Waiuta Public Tennis Club took nlace on Sunday, in ideal weather, when a large crowd was present. The Bowling Club and the Cricket Club .are being revived, so summer sport will be well catered for locally.
