At Saipan and Tinian (Rec 9.10.) WASHINGTON, Nov. 9. A Pacific Fleet c.ommuniq,ue says: On Monday, eleven enemy aircraft raided Saipan and Tinian Islands
shortly after midnight, but without causing damage or casualties. Three of the raiders were shot down by flak and another probably was destroyed. Japanese Weapon i. TOKIO CLAIMS. (Rec. 12.0.) LONDON, Nov. 9. Lieutenant-General Tominago, describes as Japan’s most -powerful military weapon something that is beyond the control of attack commanders. Tokio radio, describing Japanese pilots’ enthusiasm in smashing themselves .against the enemy, says: “It is all the more astounding just how many such daredevils we have awaiting their turn. The airmen’s body crashing tactics doubtless will manifest themselves in a moral defeat in the same manner as the Japanese secret tactic, nrojecting dauntless spirits against the enemy before battle, to destroy the enemy warriors’ entire will to fight.” JAPANESE DECISIONS LONDON, Nov. 8 The Tokio radio stated: “Anticipating enpmy air raids, the Government has ordered young, old and pregnant women to leave 11 major cities ana live with country relations.” The Associated Press' comments that already 1,000,000 people are reported to have evacuated Tokio. Important industries, Government offices and- schools were also transferfed, and whole blocks of houses were levelled as an air raid precaution. Tokio radio announced that Admiral Denshichi Okuchi has been appointed Commander of the Naval Force, vice Admirals Shigeu Fukutome and Takijiro Onishi as joint Commanders of the naval and air units and Lieutenant-General Yasuji Tominago as Air Force Commander.All the appointments are in the Philippines. JAPAN AND .SOVIET. (Rec. 10.55). NEW YORK, Nov. 9. The Japanese Government, according to Tokio radio, is examining with care and deliberation M. Stalin s speech terming J'apan as an aggressor nation.
