HOKITIKA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent; HOKITIKA, September 25. Mr A. H. Lawn, who is a patient in Westland Hospital, is expected to pe able to leave the hospital weeK. Mr S. J. Irwin, of the Canterbury, Education Board, is visiting Hokitika. Mr T. Mcßride, of Wataroa, is a patient in Westland Hospital. While on. his farm he received a kick from one of the horses, and it was found necessary to remove him to hospital for treatment.
It is understood that negotiations for a second doctor to come to Hokitika have reached a very satisfactory state, and it is now considered certain that a doctor will come here at an early date to take up practice. Whitebait catches at Hokitika have been only small ones, and the local price is 4s per pint. With a return to good weather conditions, there should be a substantial increase in supplies. The following were the best scores returned in the Stableford bogey olayed at the Mahinapua golf links: M. James 30, Gillespie 27, Kortegast 26 Harper 25, Guthrie 23, Stuart 21, P. Kortegast 20, Leggfott 15. At the conclusion of play opportunity was taken to farewell Miss Cooke and Mr Cooke, who will be leaving Hokitika' to reside in New Plymouth. Mr Tames. President, asked Mr Cooke to accept a wallet of notes as a token of the esteem in which both he and Miss Cooke were held by members, and he extended to them every good wish for a happy and prosperous time m New Plymouth.
