LOur Own CorresnondentJ. WESTPORT, Sept. 20 The Kaitoa arrived yesterday from Nelson, loaded coal, and sailed last evening oil. return. ■ Mr. W. Fife has arrived uom Christchurch to take up duties as clerk of the Magistrate’s and Warden’s Courts. Mrs. Downie Anderson left to-aay on return to Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Greenwood are visiting Mr. W. Taylor, Peel Street. . +K _ Westport District investment in the Victory Loan on Tuesday were bringing the total to £36,348. Office totals are Westport, £23.835; Denniston, £2,396; Karamea, £3.804; Granity, £6,313. The Westport total includes £l.OOO from the Union Steamship Coy., and also £5OO from tne Hon. P.C. Webb. In the third shoot of the second competition of the Westport Miniature Rifle Club, L. Hutchison with 69 of the possible 70, off the the rifle secured the best score. N. Palmer in the junior section scored 67 off the rifle. Mrs. K. Smith headed the ladies. These three members secur.ed the Hotty Buttons. Scores were: L Hutchison 69, scr—69; J. Keoghan, 68, scr—6B; D. T. Cunningham, 68, 1—69; H. V. -Palmer, 67, 2—69; N. Palmer 67, 2—69; Mrs. K.. Smith, 64, 5—49; P. Playsted 63, 6 —69; A. Svendsen, 63. 6 — 69; P. Svendsen 61, 8—69; K. Taylor. 61, 8—68; J White. 61, 8—69; A. Williams, 65, 3—68; Miss S. Robertson, 56, 10—66. Ah the funeral yesterday of the. late Arthur Taylor there was a large attenandee and including members of Masonic Lodge and bowling clues Rev. H. G. Brown conducted services and Br. J. Robertson read a Masonic service. The pall-bearers were representatives of the Masonic order, Bros. P. A. Struthers. E. A. Owles. C. Walker- Treloar. J. Watson, F. Morgan, and E. McDonald.
