DANISH REVOLT
Against Germans (Rec. 10.10). LONDON, Sept. 20. The British United Press correspondent at Stockholm says: Fighting occurred outside of the Amalienborg Palace, at Copenhagen, where the King of Denmark recently took up residence. It was between Royal Guards outside the Falace and German marines. German radio in Denmark said: “Guards attacked the marines • who were peacefully marching past. Losses occurred on both sides.” The Germans dissolved the Danish police force, and took over the task of maintaining order. Anyone found in possession of firearms will be shot. The use of motor cars in country districts without a special permit is prohibited. I British press correspondents, in Stockholm reported a full-scale revolt in Denmark, stating German marines at Amalienborg tried to disarm 160 police, while a general strike, called for to-day, began yesterday. One report said there were many dead bodies in Copenhagen streets. A German official statement said the German action to relieve Danish police of their duties is a result of collaboration between the police and illegal organisations since August of last year. Seven Germans ’were killed, and two were wounded. One Palace official was seriously fwounded. An Associated Press correspondent | at Stockholm states: The Free Danish Council urgently appealed tp the population to cease armed resistance, but to continue a general strike.
