SEVEN POISONED

CHRISTCHURCH ACCIDENT. P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 20. One person is dead and six others lin hospital, apparently as the result of accidental poisoning. Following an afternoon pa’rty, held in a residence, Radley Street, Woolston, all seven became ill after returning to their homes. Mrs Gladys Pearl Hopping, a 1 widow, died in hospital. Others now in hospital are: Mrs Virtue and child, of 76 Radley Street, Woolston, both seriously ill; Mrs Gee and child, 24 Sheldon Street; Mrs Robb, of 18 Chichester Street; Miss White, 27 Clarendon Terrace. Indications are that some poisonous substance had been used in mistake for baking powder.
