Dirt or grit in the Train stops the wheels- or causes bent and broken gear teeth. Ordinary oil carboniaes in the bearings cf a wa<-ch, so that for years your watch may run in a bearing of carbon until a Pivot breaks or the wheels bind.. Then you have recourse to the watchmaker, who, perhaps may try to retrieve something from the wreck cf a good watch.
