HALF A MILLION INVESTORS . - WELLINGTON, Sept. 19. The National War Savings Committee which maintains a campaign all the year round, is an essential part of the current Victory Loan organisation. ' Its value in taking the appeal to the wage and salary earner can be gauged by the fact that it has formed 8200 savings groups in factories, offices and shops, states the National War Loan Committee. Though a war cannot be wholly financed from current incomes, as the war goes on a vitally important national advantage is gained by transferring into war bonds and national savings accounts as much as possible of the surplus purchasing power now so evident, thus relieving dangerous pressure on a depleted commodity market. That this surplus is great .and increasing is proved by the Government Statistician’s computation of the salaries and wages of New Zealanders. Incomes have increased in just under ten years from 72J millions to the latest total of 177 millions. These figures prove how wide is the range of prospective investors jn the Victory Loan. They should number five hundred thousand this'time if the New 1 Zealanders on the home front wish to demonstrate that their enthusiasm in backing the Navy, the Army, and the Air Force has lost none of its last year’s momentum. , ■
