ITALIAN LABOUR CONFERENCE.
ROME, September 17.. The Italian Labour Movement .in future will be independent of politics and the State, according to the decision of the Italian General Confederation of Labour Conference. A Belgian, Walter Schevenels, General Secretary of the International Federation of Trade Unions, presided. The British T.U.C. delegate, Tom O’Brien, told the Congress' that if the Italian unions kept free from politics they would have the unconditional support of the British Trade 1 Unions. The conference passed a resolution asking the American and British. Trade-Unions to request their . Governments not to treat Italy as an enemy, but an ally, in view of the great efforts made to establish a democratic government and the aid o-iven to the Allies in liberated and unliberated Italy by the working cF-sse® The conference also askea that Italy, be granted lend : l.ease benefit. -
