LEAGUE FOOTBALL

TO-MORROW’S LOCAL GAMES

For the first time for some weeks senior League football will be played on Wingham Park. Marist and Brunner will meet there in wnat promises to be a good game. Neither team has been particularly sucessfui this year, but both put on a good display. Brunner is a strong combination, as indicated by their decisive win over a Christchurch club last week, and had class of football on the Coast this year not been so high, they would have met with a larger measure of success. Marist always put up a stern battle, but will have to play exceptionally well to open their winning account to-morrow. It is unfortunate that the twc« leading teams in the one round competition, Ngahere and Blackball are to meet to-morrow with the star and captain of the champion Blackbaii team, C. Mountford, and four other players representing the South Island in a game against North at Auckland to-day, while Ngahere will have its full complement of members. Nga? here by their defeat of Runanga, runners-up for the championship, have gained prominence and final contest with Blackball was keenly awaited. Ngahere nas its chance tomorrow to lower Blackballs colours for the first time this season, but their task will by no means be an easy one. . ... Marist and Runanga juniors win meet in the final of the Baker Shield at Wingham Park, and other games will be played at Blackball.
