Hutton, America s Jitterbug Number One, and Jimmy Dorsey and liis orchestra, with vocalists Bob Eberly and Helen O’Connell, “The Fleet’s In” featured cast includes Betty Jane Rhodes, pretty song stylist; Leif. Erickson, laughgetter last seen in “Nothing But the Truth,” Cass Daley, eccentric singer of novelty songs, and Lorraine and R.of?nan, popular comedy dance team well-known in night clubs and theatres from coast to coa'st. With seven new hit songs worked into the hilarious story, “The Fleet’s In” concerns the efforts of William Holden, as a gob, to kiss Dorothy Lamour, who plays the role of a dance hall singer. No sailor has ever been successful in trying to kiss Dotty,, until Holden uncorks a . romantic technique that she finds irresistible. Song hits include “Tangerine,’ “Not Mine,” “I Remember You,” “The Fleet’s In,”. “When You Hear the Time Signal,” “If you Build a' Better Mousetrap.”

Made at Ealing stucaos by the producers of “The Foreman Went to France” the fire film story devoted solely to the activities of the British Army during present hostilities, “Nine Men.” is now showing at the Regent Theatre. Somewhere in the” Libya desert a solitary army lorry is burning. Nine British soldiers struggle to get arms and ammunition and supplies out before the vehicle blows up. Presently with two of their numbers wounded the men begin their Long trek on foot to safety. Th e story| of what happens to them is told in this exciting film. Sergeant Watson the central figure is played by Jack Lambert. Ranger behind him in the adventures that follow are Jock Scott an ex-Glasgow noliceman, Bill Parker, an “old Sweat,” the “Young ’un” who faked his age to join up, Joe Harvey the lorry driver who tries to bring reinforcements to his besieged comrades, and Banger Hill who kept a coffee stall in London, until the black-out beat him. Th e film is based on a story by Gerald Kersh, well-known for his outstanding military fiction.
