MISSING NOTHING

N.Z. PACIFIC FORCES VISIT OF PATRIOTIC BOARD’S SECRETARY WELLINGTON, Aug. 7. Mr. G Hayden, secretary of the National' Patriotic Fund Board, who has returned from an extensive v sit to the Pacific area where he has been investigating patriotic requirements, under the changed disposition of New Zealand troops, said that he returned convinced .that all New Zealand personnel had been well served with comforts and extra amenities. He sooke highly of the work of the Y.M.C.A. as agents for the Patriotic Fund Board, and of the Board’s Commiss’oners, Major ■Brain, Flight Lieut. Herbert, Captain Enright and the’r .assistants. A splendid contribution has also been made bv New Zealand W.A.A.C.’s whose presence in clubs had added much to the’r value. The Kiwi Club at Bourail Beach, had been worth every penny spent on it. He had n °t heard a word of criticism oi the club from anyone. Mr Hayden had visited Bouga nville 'and found the troops well catered for with entertainment, including shows, put on by a US. organisation. No one could visit the Pacific area and not be impressed by the work of .the New Zealand Air Force. He had seen ground 'staff tolling in the terrific heat, almost stark naked. and the eff.ciency of the engines and the general ship-shape appearance of the machines, were a tribute to their skill and conscientious discharge of their duties.
