LIBERTY SHIPS
(Rec. 12.10) NEW YORK, June 30. Admiral Vickery at San Francisco said: The Liberty ships, though obsolete, will take a place in history with the vessels of Columbus and Drake. He added: “We could not have fought the war without the Liberty ships.” He quoted Mr Churchill as saying that the Liberty ships kept England from caving in. Admiral Vickery said that new victory ships were much faster, making 18 knots, compared with the Liberty ships’ 10 knots.
