BULGARIA’S DILEMMA
Ultimatums Received
FROM GERMANY AND RUSSIA (Rec. 11.12) NEW YORK, May 22. The Berne correspondent of the “New York Times’’’ states: A crisis has arisen in Bulgaria following the resignation of the Premier, M. Boshiloff. Efforts in the past 24 hours to replace M. Boshiloff failed. Bulgaria has received virtual ultimatums from both Russia and» Germany. The Germans demand an immediate rupture of diplomatic relations with Russia. Russia seeks a clarification of Bulgaria’s official attitude. It' is reported that the Bulgarian Regency Council rejected an invitation to visit Berchtesgaden to consult with Hitler. The Council pointed out internal conditions precluded an absence of more than one Regent. It nominated M. Bogdan Filoff for the journey, the Germans rejected him, ’ suggesting Prince Cyril, who refused an invitation Thereafter relations between Germany and Bulgaria deteriorated considerably. German diplomats indicated they were preparing to implement a war of nerves with forces still available .in Bulgaria.
