Talk of Resignation (Rec. 6.30.) WASHINGTON, Miay 20. Captain George Wood, the Duke of Windsor's aide, was interviewed by a Nassau correspondent regarding a report that the Duke has resigned the Governorship of the Bahamas and will seek American; citizenship. He said: “I cannot speak for the Duke of Windsor, who is touring the islands, and cannot be reached. But there are no indications here of his retirement as cabled. I cannot imagine that there is any foundation whatsoever for the reports.” A spokesman at the l Colonial Office in London said: “We have no knowledge whatever of the Duke of Windsor’s reported resignation.” The Duke assumed office as Governor of the Bahamas on August 17, 1940.
