REEFTON NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent) RiEEFTON, May 19. Miss M. Twomey has left for Greymouth, prior to returning to Christchurch. Miss D. Blackmore leaves on return to Wellington to-morrow. The funeral of the late Hugh Smith was largely attended by friends from all over the West Coast. Piper Boyle of Greymouth assisted while R. W. Bro. F.F. Boustridge D.P.G.M. recited the masonic service at the graveside. Four pastmasters of Robert Burns Lodge, W. Mitchell, A. J. Butler, D. McCallum and F. R. Elbert acted as pall bearers. The death occurred at Cromwell yesterday, of Thoms Torrence at the age of 84. The late Mr. Torrence was well known in the Reefton district, having resided h?ce for a long oeriod. He was a member of Lodge Robert Burns No. 50. Messrs Dan Maloney J'. McDonagh of Westport, were visitors to Reefton, yesterday. A successful concert was staged last evening in aid of Knox Church funds. A concert party from Greymouth assisted the local performers. The Princess. Theatre was taxed to its utmost and every item was enthusiastically received.
