RUGBY FOOTBALL

TO-DAY’S. GAMES. Cobden, of whose play much has 1 been saia, and last season’s competition winners, will appear at Greymouth, to-day for the nrst time this season, in the lirst round of the West Coast Rugoy Union’s senior competition. The side is reputed to possess a snappy, pacy back line equal, if not better tnan, anything on the Coast, and indisputably their forward pack is more weighty than any the opposing sides can offer. This team is to meet Blaketown on Rugoy Park No. 1, and the game should oe worth seeing. While Blaketown does not possess heavy forwards, that fact is counterbalanced by their speed and backing up qualities, while a not too light, but nevertheless speedy back formation will be lined out.

The other senior \ fixture will be played at Hokitika where a rapidly improving Star-United fifteen will play the home side, .whose versatility should be difficult to overcome. This game, also, should be a good one. The curtain raiser at Rugby Park will be between Technical and Celtic third gnaders and this game in itself, should be worth a trip to Rugby Park. On the B Ground, Blaketown will meet Cobden in the third grade match. So far Blaketown and Celtic lofad the competition, these teams having drawn in their match. A fourth grade match will also be played at Rugby No. 2, and at Technical School.
