Subsidy Rejected DAIRY FARMERS WANT MORE.
(Rec. 8.55.) SYDNEY, Ma v 16. No milk will be served to the householders of Svdnev and Newcastle after Friday by the dairy farmers, who have been demanding a subsidy. The acting-Prime Minister. Hon. I . M. Forde, announced yesterday, that the Federal Government would pay the dairy farmers a subsidy of two pence half-penny per gallon on milK. The dairy farmers rejected the Government’s offer as being insufficient. Suburban dairymen will supply milk free to hospitals The dairymen made their dec.sion to stop the supply after Friday following a refusal bv the Federal Government to grant them a subsidy ol three pence half-penny per gallon to the suppliers serving the zori ® em bracing Sydney and Newcastle, they stated suburban dairymen will supply milk free to hospitals.
GOVERNMENT NOT GIVING IN.
(Rec. 11.10) SYDNEY, May 17. The Acting Frime Minister, Mr. Forde, said that the Commonwealth Government would not be intimidated bv the threats to cut off the milk supplies in Sydney and Newcastle. The milk producers must accept the full responsibility for their action.
