MacGougan of Harper; Street, accompanied bv her son Colin is spending a short holiday in Christchurch. The following College students are as present spending holidays with their parents in Blackball: Miss I. Covle, Miss N. Clark, Miss C. Campbell, Miss M. MacDougall and Miss M. MacGhie. Mr. and Mrs. H. Flynn and family left last week for Te Aroha, where they will take over the teaching (both qualified teachers) of the native school in that town. Mr. Flynn has left the Army, where he was a Staff Sergeant, to again take up the teaching profession. This has been made necessary owing to the scarcity of teachers. All extend good wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Flynn in their new sphere. Mrs. G. Oliver, South Belt Street, has returned after undergoing treatment in the Grey River Hospital. She has greatly benefited by her sojourn in the institution.

Mrs. T. Gibbins, Murray Street, is visiting Blackball as the guest of Mr. and'Mrs J. Turk, Stafford Street. Mrs. J. Turk, Stafford Street, has returned to her home from the Grey Hospital, where she reecived much benefit from the treatment. The annual meeting of the Blackball Domain Board will be held in the Miners’ Hall next Sunday morning at 10.30 and it behoves the public to be present and take an interest in the administration of this institution, of wh'ch anv town would be justly proud. This meeting is the proper place for the average fireside chat to air superior knowledge. There has never been a body here that has come in for more adverse criticism than has the Domain Board, and strange to sav the positions are rarelv. if ever, contested. One must conclude that it is easier to criticise than it is to step into the breach and do something worthwhile. Mrs C. N. Cochrane. Stafford Street, has left on a holiday visit to Hamilton. . . After a number of organising meetings, the Blackball Debating Club opefled its season last Wednesday, when a full gathering of members took part.
