REEFTON, May 11
'Private R. Richards has left for Ashburton after visiting his uncle, Mr. W. Russell, Black’s Point. Sisters M. Quinn and E. Charman, of the Reelton Hospital, are spending holidays at the Glaciers. Mrs. E. Kearns has gone to Christchurch, where her granddaughter is seriously ill. Mrs. W. Sara, and Mr. J. Sara have left for Christchurch. Mrs. W. Blom and daughter are spending holidays at Runa'nga. At the monthly meeting of the Reefton Patriotic Committee held on Tuesday evening, it was decided to hold the meetings on the first Tuesday of the month during the Winter. A letter from Lieut. S. Bryant, expressing appreciation for a patriotic parcel from Mr. S. Austin was received. Contributions for the month totalled £74 14s 6d. A Cronadun resident w’as farewelled on joining the Navy. Mrs. Humphries requested the committee to appeal for knitters of Air Force and Navy gloves, mittens, socks, and pullovers. The committee had plenty of wool in hand for anyone desirous of helping. The chairman referred to the good work done by Mrs. Clark and it was decided that a letter of thanks be sent to her. It was stated that magazines and digests for inclusion in the next lot of patriotic parcels were urgently needed?
