WEDDING

BEARDSLEY—HARRIS. The wedding of Sylvia, daughter of Mr. and .'the late Mrs. W. Harris, of Cobden, and John Isaac, third son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Beardsley, also ot Cobden took place at St. John s Presbyterian Church on Saturday. Rev. T. G. Campbell officiated ana Miss B. Evans presided at the .organ. The church was decorated with chrysanthemums. . u j The bride, escortea ay Mr. T. Edgerton, wore a frock of heavy ivory crepe de chene, with a fully flared skirt which fell in heavy folds from a plain fitting bodice. The skirt had a ruched panel in front, and the frock had a V-shaped neckline. The tight-fitting sleeves were of wristlength and she wore a treble string of pearls. Her embroidered veil was held in plr.ce by a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a shower bouquet of .begonias, abutilons and maioenhair fern. She was attended by the bridegroom’s sister,Miss V. Beardsley, who wore lagoon-blue taffeta, with a fully flared skirt featuring diagonally pin-tucked pockets. The bodice was poined to the skirt with a pin-tucked corselette /front. The frock had a heart-shaped neckline, the sleeves were short and puffed and the back of the frock wa's buttoned to the waist and completed with a sash. Her lagoon-blue shoulder veil was held by pink rosebuds and her bouquet was of abutilons and begonias in pink. Mr. S'am Beardsley, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. As the bridal party left the church the bride was presented with a horseshoe bi' her cousin, Glen Mci Gowan.

The reception was held at Harker’s where Mrs. R. G. McGowan, aunt of the bride, received the guests wearing a black and white ensemble with a shoulder spray to tone. Mrs. Beardsley wore a navy ensemble with a shoulder spray to tone. When Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Beardsley left for Christchurch, the bride wore a frock of saxe blue woollen georgette, with navy shoes and a hat to tone.
