COMPENSATION FOR WATERSIDER. P.A. WELLINGTON, May 3. In the Supreme Court, George Frederick Moore, watersider was awarded £3213s special and £750 general damages, algainst the Wellington Harbour Board. Plaintiff was diagged some distance by a rope or sling trailing from a scooter and injured. ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE. P.A. PALMERSTON N., Mav 2. The trial of William' Robert Alfred Hollis, a farm manager, of ■P° r ( 1 ,’, 1 n ??* Pahiatua, ywho was charged with tne attempted murder of Godfrey Neville Green, a farm manager, at Pon, on January 17. concluded before Mr. Justice Finlay in the Supreme Court, to-day. The jury, after an absence of 20 minutes, returned a verdict oi guiltv. The prisoner was remanded for sentence.Hollis then appeared: to answer a charge of ’■ unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of Io vears. He pleaded not guilty, but before the Crown Prosecutor had completed his opening address counsel for Hollis asked for a ten-minu-tes’ adjournment, which was granted. When His Honour returned counsel intimated that accused wished to amend his nlea to guilty. The jury therefore brought in a formal verdict, and Hollis was remanded for sentence until Friday.
