20 NEW TRAWLERS
For Australia’s Fish Trade (Rec. 7.0.) MELBOURNE, May 2. The Commonwealth Government intends to sponsor the construction of twenty Seine trawlers for approved fishermen. These new vessels, together with trawlers released by the Navy, will make a big addition to Australia’s present fish haul. Plentiful fish stocks await the trawlers off the south-east coast of Australia, where the fishing grounds have been rested since early in the war. when practically the entire, Australian trawling fleet was requisition-, ed for defence work. Australian fish simpl es have been low., and the prices, though fixed, are much above , the pre-war levels. ' T
