CUSTOMS RETURNS
GREYMOUTH.
An increase of £720 4s 5d in revenue from customs, as compared with April 1943, was the main feature of the April return of the Greymouth Customs Office. Total revenue showed an increase of £928 9s 7d, tho totals being £24,776 15s last month and £23,847 15s 5d in April last year. Details of the main items, with the figures for April 1943, in parenthesis, are as follows: —Customs, £3,306 8s 6d (£2,586 4s Id); sales tax £3.564 8s 6d (£3,192 14s 2d); war expenses sales tax £5,910 18s 9d (£5,217 18s lid); warexpenses, other £6,050 14s 6d (£6,553 17s lid). AUCKLAND. P.A. AUCKLAND, April 30. Customs returns for April show an increase of £14,819 in the war expanses account, and of £26,544 in customs. Customs yielded £190,647 and the war expenses account £336.389. Excise on beer amounted to £37,328 and sales tax £118,700. DUNEDIN. P.A.
