[Our Own Correspondent]. Mr. W. Banks who underwent an operation at the Reefton Hospital on Tuesday is making satisfactory progress Sapper G. Mills, who returned to New Zealand recently, after service with the Forestry Unit is spending a few days in the township. L.A.C. N. Dawes, R.N.Z.A.F., and Mrs Dawes (Christchurch), are spending a few days here as the guests of Mrs. W. Prendergast. Mrs. L. Kennedy who have been spending a holiday in Christchurch returned by Tuesday’s express. Sergt-Pilot Eric Harris R.N.Z.A.F., who is stationed somewhere -in Scotland. has been promoted to FlightSergeant. Eric who is keeping fit and well, sends kind regards to all his Waiuta friends. Captain C. Coxall, Reefton Fire Brigade, was a visitor to the townshin on Wednesday. Mr. H. Dawer who has been visiting Christchurch returned on Saturday evening. Normal production was resumed at the mine on Monday, following the recent fire. The amount of damage done has not yet been ascertained, owing to a fall. Mr. Dave Douglas, shift-boss, employed at the Blackwater mines, was injured by a fall, while working in No. 9 level at the Blackwater shaft. Mr. Douglas escaped with severe bruises, and will be confined to his home for a few days. Mr. Geo. Lawes, (Inspector of Mines), paid an official visit to the Blackwater Mine on Tuesday.
