Hon. J. O’Brien, Minister of Transport and Marine, and Mrs. O’Brien, will arrive to-day in Greymouth. On Monday evening they will attend the annual meting of the Greymouth Branch of the New Zealand LabourParty at the Lyceum Hall at eight o'clock. The Minister will give an address at the meeting. Mr Albert Clarke, Public Works Department, Nelson, is on a visit to Greymouth. Mr. A. Randall, late, of the Marine Department, Auckland, has arrived in Greymouth to take up the duties of District Storekeeper to the Public Works Department. Brigadier R. A. Row and Mrs Row arrive by to-day’s express on a visit to Mrs. Row’s mother, Mrs. W. Rathbun, High Street. Mr A Walton, who was at one time stationed at Greymouth, has been appointed Telephone Exchange Manager at Christchurch. Mr J. E. Broadfoot, Director of the Institute Pf 'tjhie Blind, Auckland, leaves to-day on return to Christchurch, after -a visit to Grey’mouth and Hokitika. Mr. J. S'. Robertson, of Greymouth, has been appointed Chairman of the West Coast Sawmillers’ Association for a second term.
Mr. F. H. Bass (Wellington) has been elected president of the NewZealand Society of Accountants, and Mr. D. H. Steen (Auckland), as vicepresident. Guests at the Albion Hotel include: — Mr. and Mrs. C. Jarman, Mrs. M. Cunningham, Mr. C. L. Hardy (Christchurch), Pilot Officer and Mrs. Ray (Blenheim), Mr. H. D. Jones, Mr. J.' Strang (Westport) Mr. C. L. Wrighton (Nelson), Miss J. Martin, Miss L. Alexander, Miss I. L. Bartlett (Wellington), Mr. G. Topp (Rotomanu). The death occurred at Auckland on Thursday of Mr. Alfred Hopkins, aged 62 years, a former well-known resident of Kilgour Road, Greymouth. Deceased was a builder by trade and a native of Greymouth, but left tor Auckland about six years ago. A single man, he is survived b Y J wo sisters living in Greymouth, Mesdames W. McGrath and M. Lewis, and. one, Mrs. C. G. Moss, residing m Christchurch, also 'Miss Nita Hopkins and another sister in Australia. Guests at Revington’s Hotel include the following: Miss S. Morris (Reefton), Mr. and Mrs. Morrison, Mr. and Mrs. A. Wallace, Miss W. H. Hopley, Mr. G. A. Mogg (New Ply’mouth). Mr. J. Meltzer (Wellington), Mrs. P. T. Manger, Miss Rhoda Mauger (Sumner), Mrs. George Bassett (Monk’s Bay), Mr. and Mrs. T. Perry (Christchurch)-, and Miss M. Biddle (Sumner). Misses I. Burn and Norah McGrathj leave to-day on a visit to Nelson.
