SOUTH AFRICAN PROJECT.

LONDON, Jan 31. Social Security in South Africa costing £98,000,000 annually is envisaged in a scheme recommended by Social Security Committee appointed a year ago, the details of which were laid on the table of Assembly to-day. The scheme proposes the payment of old-age, mothers’ and widows, benefits, funeral grants, dependants allowances, and family allowances. The committee also „ raising the European school-learine aod to 17, and the provision ot ten years’ free education to non-Euro-plan children. It also reooramo the provision of food at low price to the low-income groups.
