OTAKI RACES POSTPONED WELLINGTON. Feb. 1. The Otaki stewards have decided owing to the transport restrictions to postpone the Otaki race meeting. COMMENT BY CONFERENCE PRESIDENT. WELLINGTON, Feb. 1. The presdient of the New Zealand Racing Conference, Mr H. R. Chalmers, referring last night to the effect of the railway restrictions on racing, said that clubs had a duty to the owners, trainers, jockeys and others' dependent on the sport for their living, and wherever it was at all possible they should hold their meetings. It was not wise, he said, for any club to rush in and cancel its engagements without first investigating every possible means that might avoid cancellation.
