Mr. P. O’Farrell left last evening on a holiday visit to Kurow.

Miss M Gillingham, who. has been visiting Greymouth, left yesterday on return to Christchurch. Mrs, W. Tailbv, Raratonga, is visiting the West Coast.

Mrs. F. L. Buchanan. ■ who has been visiting Greymouth, has returned to Wellington.

Mr. A. D. Marsden of the Greymouth Railway staff. leaves next week on transfer to Waimate.

Mr. J. E. A. McKeefry is attending a refresher course at a South Island Air Station.

Mr.' J. Green has been transferred to Hornby and will be succeeded as tablet porter at Kaiata by Mr. L. H. Hunt.

Pte. J. Smith, who was recently repatriated to New Zealand, having been a prisoner of war in Italy, returned yesterday to Greymouth. He was met at the railway station by members of the Grey Patriotic Committee and well-wishers.

The death occurred yesterday afternoon of a respected resident of Reef ton, Mr Patrick Carr, who had been a patient at the hospital. ■ A native of England, and 51 years of age, he came as a young man to the Dominion, and had been for thirty years a resident of Reefton. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs S. Barkle and Mrs Rod McLean, of Reefton. The funeral takes place to-morrow afternoon.
