TEA, SUGAR & BUTTER

RATIONS AVAILABLE EARLY PA WELLINGTON', Dec. 21. ’The Food and Rationing Controller (Mr J. E. Thomas) announced to-night the availability of tea, sugar and butter coupons lor the fourweekly periods ending January 23 and February 20, as approved by the Minister of Supply and the War Cabinet Tea coupons 9to 12 will be available for a total of eight ounces of tea from December 20 to January 23. Coupons 13 to 16 will be available for a total of Sozs of tea during the period January 24 to February 20, 1944. The special Y 3 coupon will be available for an additional eight ozs of tea above the normal quota at any time during December and January. Sugar coupons 9 to 12 will be available for a total of 31bs of sugar from December 20 to January 23. Coupons 13 to 16 will be available for a total of 31bs of sugar during the period January 24 to February 20. The special Y 4 coupon will be available for an additional 31bs of sugar for jaip at any time during January. The special Y5 y coupon will be available for an additional 31bs for jam during February. - Butter “A” coupons 9 and 10 are each available for Bozs of butter from December 20 to January 9, 1944. “A” coupons 11 and 12 are each available for Bozs of butter during the fortnight January 10 to January 23. “A” coupons 13 and 14 are each available for Bozs of butter during the fortnight January 24 to February 6. “A” coupons 15 and 16 are each available for Sozs of butter during the fortnight February 7 to February 20. The available coupons for all of thes e commodities up to number 8 do not expire until December 26, but to avoid inconvenience during the holidays the next period has been advanced so that all coupons which would normally become available on December 27 are now valid from December 22. Four-weekly returns by retailers and wholesalers for the period ending December 26 will not be required and instead a single return for the eight weeks to January 23, will be accepted.
