ENGLISH BY-ELECTIONS
LONDON. Dec. 15. The Acton (West London) byelection was won by Captam Henry Longhurst (Conservative and National Government) with 5,014 votes. Walter Padley (Independent Labour) 2,236, Miss Dorothy Crisp (Independent) 707. Godfrey (English Nationalist) 258. A CLOSE ELECTION. (Rec. 8.15) LONDON, Dec. 16. In the Barwen byrelection, following two recounts, the final figures show that Captain Stanley Prescott (Conservative) polled 8,869 votes; and Miss Honor Balfour (Independent Liberal) 8,799 votes. Thus the election wa's the closest since the outbreak of war.
