Mrs. A. J. Gilberthorpe left yesterday for Christchurch.
Mr. D. Bell left yesterday morning by air for Wellington en route to Auckland.
A Cairo cable states that Queen Farida of Egypt has given, birth to her third daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Perham left on Wednesday evening for Wellington.
Mr. A. Bell of the Housing Department returned to Christchurch yesterday after a visit to Greypiouth. Miss M. Corby of the staff of the Cobden School will return to the Redcliffs School next yeai’ and on Wednesday afternoon she was met and presented with several gifts.
Guests at Revington’s Hotel include the following: Mr. F. Cnamberlain (Dunsandel), Miss E. Allison (Nelson), Mr T. D. Richards, and Mr. J. K. Templin (Christchurch).
Military anointments gazetted last night include the following:—Temp. Lieut-Colonel G. Morpeth relinquishes the appointment of a Zone Commander and is posted to the retired list. Temp. Lieut.-Colonel J.. W. Solomon (North Auckland Regiment), Temp. Major E. S Bridger (N.Z. Armoured Corps), Temp. Major W. E. Smitn (Northern Districts Signals), ana Temp. Lieut.-Colonel H. G. Dyer (North Auckland Regiment), are posted to the reserve of officers. Lieut.-Colonel H. J. Laurent, V.C., from the Reserve of Officers, is to be Temy./Lieut.-Colonel and is seconded for duty as Officer Commanding; the Hawera Squadron of the Air Training Corps.
