ALLIES’ PACIFIC GAINS
Japanese Estimate “MOST SERIOUS ASPECTS.” (Rec. 9.35,:). NEW YORK, Dec. 14. The Tokio official radio, reviewing war developments, said: The Allied resources are limitless, and it cannot be said that the Japanese Navy has the situation under complete control. The enemy has gradually advanced his bases to Bougainville Island and the Gilbert Islands, and is now, step by step, closing in on our strategic points. To ensure that the third year of war shall bring us victory, the hundred million Japanese P?°P le must exert most desperate efforts. The Allies, in spite of American defeats, are continuing their advance .most persistently. The war situation manifests a grave aspect for Japan. A Japanese all-out march to certain victory is being continued, but the British and Americans are a great enemy indeed. At one time they were the greatest nations that ever existed on this earth. They are now carrying out frantic counter-offensives from various directions, and the fighting is turning into a great battle, showing the most serious aspects Oi the war.
