CHRISTMAS ARMISTICE?
GERMAN SPOKESMAN'S VIEW (Rec. 1.15) LONDON, Dec. 12. A Stockholm message says that commenting on rumours of an undeclared armistice during the Christmas week-end, the military spokesman in Berlin said that the Germans did not expect a Christmas respite in Europe's air and land warfare and would ask for none. VISIT OF RUSSIAN OFFICERS. (Rec. 10.10.) LONDON, Dec. 13. Russian officers, including General Vasiliev, who captured Perekop, for which he received the honour _ of Hero of the Soviet Union, has just visited the Fifth Army front. They were impressed bv the weather and terrain difficulties facing the British and American forces. General Arnold, United States Air Chief, visited the Fifth Army front yesterday, with General Clark, for a close-up of the mountainous terrain for which the Americans are fighting.
The Associated Press correspondent says: The Generals drove in jeeps to forward positions, where artillery are pounding the German lines. The Geramns also shelled their area. One shell fell less than 100 yards from the Generals.
