Ground, Sea and Air Forces (Special to N.Z. Press Assn.) (Rec. 9.15) SYDNEY, Dec. 3. Success against Japanese shippmg, aircraft, anti ground forces were reported in General MacArthur’s communique to-day. Tne main features were: (1) A ten thousand ton transport sunk and a large tanker and two destroyers badly damaged. (2) ±ne pounding of the enemy's base at We. wak with 111 tons of nigh explosives, and tiie shooting down or ten out of fortjn intercepting Zeros. (3) Australian troops on the Huon Peninsula have crossed the Song River, and are aovaricing in three directions for a general assault against the enemy strong point of Wareo. (4) In the Solomons an American Marine force struck at night against enemy positions south of Empress Augusta Bay, killing two hundred Japanese and destroying large ammunition and supply dumps.
