An official Chinese statement says: Japanese forces who entered Changteh on Monday were all ejected by this Wednesday morning. An Associated Fress correspondent at Chinese headquarters says it is announced that Chinese and American planes providing brilliant ail* cover, helped the Chinese troops lo drive the Japanese from Changten. The Chinese also recaptured Tenshan on the 'highway between iChanteh and Changsha, and wiped out most of the Japanese troops in two nearby villages. The Chinese columns bypassing Changteh with the evident intention of surrounding invading forces around the city, converged on the highway town‘of Linli, twenty miles north of Changteh. General Yu Changwan, the latest hero of the Asiatic war, personally dnected the bloody fighting which cleared Changteh s streets of the enemy..
