By U-Boats > OFF AMERICAN COAST (Rec. 9.50) 'BALBOA, Nov. 29. The United States Navy announced that an American Liberty ship has been torpedoed and sunk with the loss of sixteen lives, and an American tanker has been sunk, with the loss of twelve lives, in the same general area, as that of the sinking of the Columbian schooner Ruby (cabled on November 27). The Navy stated the other sinkings were subsequent to that of the Ruby. The Ruby was sunk by gunfire by a German submarine. Four of her crew were killed. The remainder of the crew and three passengers were injured.
